» Katrina Lawrence is to beauty as Malcolm Knox is to sport
At the risk of destroying my chances of ever working in women’s magazines, I should say that, for me, one of the least appealing positions in journalism is that of the Beauty Editor.
I realised it’s viewed as something of a gateway to senior editorial positions (since it’s pretty much like editing your own mini-mag), but as it happens, I just don’t find beauty products and make-up techniques remotely interesting.
Which is why it’s remarkable that I enjoy Katrina Lawrence’s BeautyEditor.com.au site so much. Lawrence’s writing is down-to-earth, unpretentious, and tends to focus more on health and maintenance than on difficult to replicate techniques. Plus, she throws a bit of political commentary into her blogs every now and again, which for a nerdy girl like me is the icing on the cake.
