You know you’re working with awesome editors when they ask you to write an article featuring the word ‘cisgender’. For 14-year-old girls. Suffice to say, Girlfriend eds Lauren Smelcher and Sarah Tarca are beyond awesome. I’m not sure I’d even call the stories they’ve commissioned me to write over the past few months “feminism by stealth”. It’s just flat-out feminism. Also in this month’s issue: a sealed-section challenging the hymen-focused version of virginity loss. Like I said, awesome.
